Room 4 – Christmas village

Future hurling stars in 2nd class!

After training for weeks with Mr. Whelan, the hurlers from 2nd class invited their parents into school to see a match.

Well done to everyone!

Room 4 – self portraits

The boys and girls were creating their own painting self portraits.

They look great!

 

 

Room 12 – Maths with 6th class

The boys and girls in Room 5 were making new maths games and went to the second classes to play the games with them.

Everybody had great fun learning maths through new games and activities.

5th class Grand Canal project competition

Eanna ní Lamhna came back into the school to judge the hard work of all the 5th class pupils on their Grand Canal projects.

She was very impressed with the work that had been put into them.

Well done to all the winners and all of the participants.

Football blitz

The Gardaí invited 5th class to the army barracks to take part in a soccer blitz.

We got to play lots of skill games, practice out penalty taking and play a match.

It was a super day and thanks to Garda Brendan for organising it and inviting us.

5th class school tour

Rooms 4, 14  & 15 went with the 6th classes to Lilliput Adventure Centre on their school tour.
We set off from school on the buses very early and travelled to Mullingar in Westmeath. We were all very excited to get there and start our activities.
We got to do loads of different games and activities like rock climbing, group games, capture the flag activity, Aeroball, kayaking, bog hopping, orienteering and archery.
It was an amazing day!

5th class trip on a barge – Engineering

The 5th classes have been learning about the Grand Canal and were lucky enough to go on a barge trip this week.

We went onto the barge and learned how the locks work through engineering. The lock keeper showed us how the locks work.

It was so interesting.

5th classes learning about The Grand Canal – Environmental awareness and care

The boys and girls in 5th class were learning all about the Grand Canal.

Eanna Ní Lamhna who is an Irish biologist came in to the school to talk about the history of the canal and the things you might see there.

Then we went to the canal and studied the flora (flowers) and fauna (wildlife/animals) that were present at the canal.

It was great fun and we learned so much and we learned how important it is to keep the water in the canal clean to protect all the living things.
