Global Citizenship assembly

Today the whole school came together to celebrate all of the different cultures and nationalities in St. Louis SPS.

We heard poems, songs and dramas from lots of different classes that all relate to our Global Citizenship.

This knowledge will hopefully help us on our way to getting our 5th green flag!!!

Thanks to Ms. Cunningham and Ms. O’ Halloran.

Room 7 – Young Scientists!

Room 7 worked very hard in school so they could compete in the Young Scientists Exhibition in the RDS this year.

Their project was all about rockets and they worked with Ms. Mulryan and Ms. Hartigan to make some amazing rockets.

They had a great day at the RDS!!

Room 2 – Transport survey

Room 2 braved the elements today and went out in the cold weather to do a traffic survey.

They had discussed different types of transport.

From their survey they found that lots of cars were on the road, two bicycles passed, lots of lorries/vans passed and a taxi too.

No tractors passed and this is probably because Rathmines is an urban environment.

Room 14 – Investigating

Room 14 were investigating sound and light in their science lesson.

Room 3 – Working with clay

The boys and girls in Room 3 were busy using clay.

They made coil pots out of clay.

Well done – they look great!

GORDON D’ARCY visits St. Louis!!!!!!!!!!

We were all so so lucky in St. Louis to welcome Ireland and Leinster rugby star Gordon D’arcy to the school.

He was in the school to raise the Active Schools flag that we were awarded!

He spoke to all of the pupils and answered some questions from pupils. We all sang ‘Ireland’s Call’ in Halla Cullen – even Gordon sang!!

Then he raised the flag!

It was a really brilliant day – one that none of us will ever forget!!!

Room 2 – Fabric pictures

Room 2 had lots of fun making aliens out of fabric.

2nd class trip to Dublin Youth Orchestra

Room 2 and Room 11 went to listen to the Dublin Youth Orchestra today. We went on a double decker bus to the Victory Centre.

We listened to the orchestra play. They played ‘The Sleeping Beauty Suite’ by Tchaikovsky.

We also was the Irish Youth Ballet company perform.

We sang songs, danced and had a great day.

A big THANK YOU to Mrs. Ryan, Ms. Geary, Ms. Hanrahan, Helen and Emily for a wonderful day out.

Room 2 – a musical treat!

Caoimhe played the fiddle for all of the boys and girls in Room 2.

What a treat. Well done!!
