Raising the Irish flag in St. Louis

On the 15th of March 2016, St. Louis SPS and St. Louis Infant School took part in a special ceremony to commemorate the 100 year anniversary of the Easter Rising that happened in 1916.

Both schools were presented with a tri-colour Irish flag by some soldiers from Cathal Brugha barracks last year and we raised them together at 12 o’ clock.

Cian and Kate from 6th class read the proclamation to the pupils and everybody sung the national anthem Amhrán na bhFiann together with the help of the St. Louis SPS choir.

It was a great ceremony.

Céilí mór 2016

All of the pupils and teachers gathered in the yard to learn some new Irish dances.

Mr. Mc Garrigle taught us some new steps and we danced together.

It was great fun learning new Irish dances.

Learning about acids and bases in Room 15

Room 15 were busy in science class learning about acids and bases. We learned how to tell if a liquid was an acid or a base and we used litmus paper to test out some different liquids.

It was really interesting!

Garda visit to 5th class

Garda Brendan visited 5th classes to set up a mock trial.

The pupils were different members in the case and had to decide the outcome of a case that happened a few years ago.

It was great to learn all about questioning and hear statements from characters involved.

It was a super day!
