A historical trip to the library!

Room 15 were invited to visit Rathmines Library to see a presentation on the 1916 Rising and people that were involved. We learned lots of interesting facts from our guide Eoin and we learned that there were many connections to Rathmines during the Rising in Ireland.

We learned about different people that were involved with the Rising and what part they  played. We even got to hear from some of their ancestors on a video interview.

It was a really great trip and we were so lucky to be invited.

Writing our own Proclamation in Room 15

The pupils in Room 15 were busy re-writing the Irish proclamation. They had learned all about the proclamation that was read out in 1916 for the Irish people and were thinking what might be different if we were to write a new version today.

We came  up with some very interesting views and hopefully we will be able to make a school proclamation with the help of all the students in the school.

Learning about electricity in Room 15

Room 15 were learning all about electricity and circuits in science this week.

They were using switches and tested different materials to see would they conduct electricity.

Look at all the light they created!

PowerPoint skills in Room 15

The boys and girls in Room 15 were very busy this week using PowerPoint and creating some very informative presentations all about the human heart.

Well done!

St. Louis SPS first Annual Spelling Bee 2016

The 5th and 6th classes competed in the first ever spelling bee in the school.

All pupils took part and the finalists were competing in Halla Cullen for the chance to represent the school in the county finals.

Everybody did so well  but a special congratulations goes to Caitlin Mooney from Room 4 who was the overall winner on the day.

Thanks to Mr. Mooney for organising everything.

Best of luck from the whole school Caitlin!
