The 5th classes went on their school tour to The Crystal Maze.
The day was filled with fun challenges and activities. We had to earn crystals in order to win a trophy for the school.
We even got to do some water activities in the river. It was a super day!
We hope you’ve kept your eyes peeled in the Millennium Playground and have noticed our potatoes tiny shoots appearing. Our little potato plants have started to peek through the soil soak up some of the lovely Spring sunshine and today we measured their shoots and counted their leaves and will do this weekly until the Summer holidays. Stay tuned for some hot potato updates. 🥔🌱
This week Room 13 got to take a virtual tour of the Hugh Lane gallery. We learned about the history of the gallery and even about Hugh Lane. We learned about a lot of different artists, their works, and what an artists studio looks like. One artist in particular made our tummy’s rumble – Francis Bacon. 🥓 Thank you to Jane @TheHughLane for such a great virtual workshop!
We were learning about procedural writing in English this week. We read all about the board game Jumanji.
We then got to design our own board games and write our procedural instructions for how to play them!
The gardeners and horticulturalist’s of Room 13 were out in force today as we planted our seed potatoes in the school’s Millennium playground. We cannot wait to check up on our little potatoes progress when we return from the Easter break!
Room 13 are having a wicket time at cricket! Thanks to Leinster Cricket Club for the wonderful lessons!
The children in Room 13 went on a mission to make a difference this week. We went to Sandymount strand to partake in a beach clean and ocean plastics workshop. We learned so much about plastic, and plastic alternatives and had so much fun. We even found a mermaid’s purse! Thank you to @flossiebeachcl1 for such an enjoyable and informative workshop!
The children in Room 13 created their own Pysanky eggs for Easter. To create our Pysanky eggs, we used a wax-resist method. We drew out designs on our egg with crayon and then placed the eggs in food colouring. The areas that we decorated with crayon resisted the food-colouring and resulted in beautifully decorated eggs!
